Code of ethics gives a teritory for technologists to work.
What you have to do? and what you should not to do?
1. This profession is dedicated to service of humanity.
2. He / She should work under the supervision of Pathologist.
3. The reports / information should be considered as Confidential.
4. The final interpretation is the responsibility of Physician. he /she should not advise.
5. Involve in Teaching student technicians and other health care professionals.
6. Try to maintain dignity and respect of thier profession. They should be honest, reliable, patient and efficient.
7. They shall be loyal to thier collegues. Should have keen interest in Professional organisations.
8. Techs should continiously improve thier knowledge & skills and also keep in touch with advances in the technology.
We do follow this in Inter laboratory communications. Most of the laboratory still do not encourage thier staff to follow the code of ethics.
Lab managers are keen in taking the work from thier staff. equally many techs are not professionally interested. and most of the staff are wanted salary rise and more easy job so on.
If the laboratory techs worked with 100% professional interest and the lab managers, administrators support professionalism we will achive error free laboratories.
The out come will be 100% health for the techs, 100% error free laboratory results. This 100% health will definitely give peaceful work environment for the managers and adminstrators.
If the money / profit is the goal of lab manager / administrator, their staff will also ask for more salary and the quality and professional interest will be a question mark.
If one keep the service for the humanity as thier aim, every thing (job satisfaction, health of techs) will follow.
Job satisfaction brings more productivity. More productivity with job satisfaction will bring health as well the profit for the organisation.
